WHAT:    Terrific New Theatre seeks actors for the World Premiere of "THE RECIPE BOX."

WHO:      Directed by Del Shores & Starring Emerson Collins

​​WHEN:   SUNDAY, August 17, 2025 - 6pm to 10pm

​WHERE: Terrific New Theatre

                  2112 5th Avenue North

                  Birmingham, AL 35203

 

REHEARSALS BEGIN:  Sunday, January 4, 2026

PERFORMANCES:  February 5 to February 22, 2026

 

PREPARATION: 

  1. Complete and submit the AUDITION GOOGLE FORM (see link below).

  2. Choose which character you're auditioning for.

  3. Locate the sides FOR that character, which have been provided by the director. Those can be accessed by using the "LINK TO SIDES" link below. Hard copies will also be available at the auditions.

  4. Del Shores requests - "If possible, I’d love for you to be off book—or close to it—for your audition. I find that it allows for a deeper connection with the character, and gives me more to work with you.  The director will mix / match actors to read multiple scenes."

  5. Read the entire play, available HERE.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:

  • RICK SPRAGUE (this role is not available)

  • LOU WANDA BAILESS - 70's, any race, Joah's mother

  • JOAH BAILESS - 35-ish, any race, Lou Wanda's son and Rick's husband, lawyer

  • OONA LA VECK - 30-40's, any race, female, theatre professional, Rick's best friend

OTHER DETAILS ARE:

  • CALLBACKS ARE MONDAY, AUGUST 18 from 6pm to 10pm.

  • Please see show synopsis, additional audition details, and a casting breakdown HERE.

  • You will perform with Emerson Collins (or Del Shores) at the audition. There may be an element of "cold reading", as well.​

Terrific New Theatre's Mission Statement

​​The mission of Terrific New Theatre is to promote the presence of non-profit community theatre in Birmingham, Alabama, and the surrounding region, through presentation of a distinctive season of high-quality contemporary programs. In addition, TNT will act as a showcase for local talent and as a workshop/lab where theatre creatives can experience hands-on participation.
