You’re six years old. Mom’s in hospital. Dad says she’s “done something stupid.”
She finds it hard to be happy. So you start to make a list of everything that’s brilliant about the world. Everything that’s worth living for.

-
Ice cream.
-
Water fights.
-
Staying up past your bedtime.
-
The color yellow.
-
Things with stripes.
You leave it on her pillow. You know she’s read it
because she’s corrected your spelling. Soon, the
list will take on a life of its own.
A play about depression and the lengths we
will go to for those we love.

Special thanks to MAGIC CITY ACCEPTANCE CENTER for opening its facility for this exciting project. The Magic City Acceptance Center (MCAC) is a safe and affirming space for LGBTQ individuals of all ages where everyone is celebrated for who they are! Also, our thanks goes out to A FRIEND OF MIND (AFM), a local 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose main focus is suicide prevention.
