CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

  • Thomas (he/him, any ethnicity, early 30s-early 50s)
The longest-standing resident of Casey House and former diner waiter, Thomas is known for his wit,
his penchant for camp and pop culture, his strong opinions and his profound love for Princess Diana.
He can be intimidating and off-putting, but deep down, craves connection, family and leaving a mark.

  • Vera (she/her, any ethnicity, late 20’s – early 50s)
A nurse at Casey House. Called the “best nurse I’ve ever met” by Thomas, Vera is skilled, attentive and
protective (with a dry sense of humor). She wants to maintain the integrity of Casey House as a
stable and comforting place for clients to die, even with all the excitement of Diana’s upcoming visit.
She is managing her own sense of deep loss over the passing of a client she grew very close to.

  • Andre (he/him, any ethnicity, early-mid 20s)
The newest resident at Casey House. Andre is mistrusting of others and is navigating severe grief and
shock at landing in hospice care. He has arrived in Toronto recently, has no friends, and is estranged

from his family. He longs to connect with a queer community but doesn’t know how.

  • Marjorie (she/her, any ethnicity, early 50s-early 70s)
A volunteer. Jolly, playful, and hopeful, Marjorie has recently started volunteering at Casey House in
the wake of the recent loss of her best friend to AIDS. She is a former teacher and enthusiastically
identifies as a longtime community member. She has a quietly rebellious spirit and is willing to break
    the rules if need be.

  • Pauline (she/her, any ethnicity, early 30s – mid 40s)
A family member, Thomas’s sister. As opinionated and stubborn as her brother, Pauline is open to
evolving herself and her relationships, but it doesn’t come easily.

  • Diana (she/her, white, plays 30 – English accent)
The People’s Princess. Warm, kind, and an exceptional listener.

CALLBACKS ARE BY INVITATION ONLY: MONDAY, JULY 27 - 6pm to 9pm
